On 16.03.2025, the mayor of municipality Blagoevgrad Metodi Baykushev, accompanied by experts from the Blagoevgrad municipal administration, visited the city of Pomorie. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the new waste management model that municipality Pomorie is introducing in the city, given the intentions of Blagoevgrad to improve the waste collection system and the experience of Pomorie as a pioneer in moving to a circular model in waste management.
The mayor Ivan Aleksiev spoke about the activities carried out, the experience gained so far and the challenges accompanying the introduction of the new door-to-door waste collection scheme. The guests viewed the newly installed eco-stations and containers for separately collected waste. Demonstrations were made on how the equipment works and how mixed, recyclable and food waste are disposed of by households and collected separately using the door-to-door method.
