In relation to the efforts of Pomorie Municipality to improve the waste management system under the project „Holistic approach to waste management in the transition to a circular economy“, co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, cameras for 24-hour video surveillance have already been installed at all 13 main points for separate waste collection on the territory of Svoboda district in Pomorie.

The video surveillance system aims to: ensure greater public control over the waste disposal; to reduce the cases of littering of household and construction waste; to facilitate the detection of infringements and the timely implementation of administrative measures and increase the efficiency in maintaining cleanliness and order around separate collection vessels.
The installation of the cameras is part of a broader initiative for sustainable waste management and environmentally responsible behavior. We remind citizens that proper separate collection is key to protecting nature and reducing pollution.
Pursuant to Article 5(3) of Regulation № 2 on the maintenance and protection of public order in Pomorie Municipality and Article 9 of Regulation № 9 of the Pomorie Municipal Council, the dumping of waste outside the designated areas is prohibited. The fines for littering range from BGN 50 to BGN 1000 for natural persons, and for legal persons the fines reach up to BGN 4000 under the Waste Management Act.
Since cameras were installed, in less than a week, six administrative infringement notices have been drawn up and fines have been imposed on the perpetrators.
Pomorie Muncipality has a municipal site for free waste disposal, which is outside the scope of the regulations for various widespread waste, including batteries and accumulators, discarded electrical and electronic equipment, large and hazardous household waste. According to Article 33a(2)(2) of Regulation № 9 on the management of the waste activities of Pomorie Municipality, household waste of no more than 1 m3 per year for each person/household may also be handed over free of charge.
The site is located in Pomorie at: 5, Strandzha Street, Industrial Zone (next to the former Toplivo AD). Citizens can hand over their waste every day from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. without a day off! Security will provide access to anyone willing to throw out.
We ask kindly all residents for responsible attitude and assistance in maintaining cleanliness in our city!
