New households included in LIFE separate waste collection activities

New households, outside the pilot area in the Svoboda district, are included in the new door-to-door waste collection scheme. The scheme will apply to households living in the sections of P. K. Yavorov Street, Knyaz Boris I Street and the intersecting streets.

Explanatory brochures have already been distributed and meetings with citizens are scheduled on site. Households in the outlined area will be provided with bags for separate collection of mixed and recyclable waste. A municipal contact person has been designated to assist citizens.

If necessary, citizens can also contact the environmental experts in the municipal administration by phone: 0596 2 5910.

According to the established rules, every Wednesday every household should put the following bags in front of the front door of their building:

  • yellow bags for plastic, paper and metal;
  • grey non-recyclable mixed waste sacks;
  • brown bucket for biodegradable waste *.

* Only the biodegradable waste bin will be serviced two times a week (additionally on Saturday).

We remind you that in connection with the efforts to improve the waste management system, cameras were installed for 24-hour video surveillance at all 13 main points for separate waste collection on the territory of Svoboda district in Pomorie. The video surveillance system aims to: ensure greater public control over how waste is disposed of; reduce littering of household and construction waste; facilitate the detection of infringements and the timely implementation of administrative measures and efficiency in maintaining cleanliness and order around separate collection vessels.

We also remind that Pomorie Municipality has a municipal site for the free delivery of waste, that is outside the scope of the regulations for the various common waste, including waste batteries and accumulators, discarded electrical and electronic equipment, large and hazardous household waste. According to Article 33a(2)(2) of Regulation No 9 on the management of the waste activities of Pomorie Municipality, household waste of no more than 1 m3 per year for each person/household may also be handed over free of charge. The site is located in Pomorie at: 5, Strandzha Street, Industrial Zone (next to the former Toplivo AD). Citizens can hand over their waste every day from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. without a day off! Security will provide access to anyone willing to dispose their waste.

We kindly ask all residents for responsible attitude and assistance in maintaining cleanliness in our city. Proper separate collection is the key to protecting nature and reducing pollution.
